The Dog and the Bone

A dog held a juicy bone in his jaws as he crossed a bridge over a brook. When he looked down into the water he saw another dog below with what appeared to be a bigger juicier bone. He jumped into the brook to snatch the bigger bone, letting go his own bone, He quickly learned of course that the bigger bone was just a reflection, and so he ended up with nothing.

~Aesop’s Fable

What we have in life is good – what we crave and desire in life will without question create misery. The more we have the more we worry about what we will lose – so if we have nothing we have nothing to lose – thus nothing to worry about.

We come into this world with nothing and we will leave with nothing – it is only our egos that need to feel superior and that drives us to attain more.  Why do I say that – because once we have enough – we will need a little more and once we have that little more, we will need a little more – the rat race is never ending? Been there done that and it never made me happy – however that doesn’t mean that whatever we do – we shouldn’t do to the best of our ability – because that is the only way to be happy doing – doing our best.

BUT you know what happens when you do something to the best of your ability – you get paid more. So the moral of the story – be happy with what you have – a little or a lot!
